Can success without upholding values deemed as success? From my point of view, it cannot be success. One should earn success by high-level performance without compromising values. By giving up values, one may be benefited on short-term basis, but as time progresses, benefits evaporate and takes a U-turn towards falsehood and invites recession. Ancient thinkers reckoned achieving success by compromising values as degradation.
Indian philosophy has endowed many fruitful theories for the benefit of the mankind, among them the two prominent theories are Dharma Shastra (book of values) and Artha Shastra (book of economics). They insist that Artha Shastra should have solid foundation on Dharma Shastra. It means that the concept of gaining should have basis on values. Money management is equal to Value management. Therefore, capitalizing on gains by upholding values is relevant in modern society as was in the past.
Modern economists may think differently in terms of new business realms, but the ancient economists lauded on their economic theories based on values. They were reluctant to compromise values for personal gains. This is because such a system where economics overrules values is harmful for the society. It will generate a degraded society than a progressive one. When values are lost then individualities are lost, thereby goodness gets jolted. You are forced to live in human body carrying an animal heart, as cunningness and brutality are the traits of animals. Human quality has perished by adapting that animal quality into our veins, mind and heart, and completes the vicious circle of degradation.
Society is more important than individuals as per the ancient perspective. Humanity should be preached and uplifted above animality for the betterment of the society. That is why we have to go back to their economic concepts for fostering futuristic society where monetary benefits and values walk beside than aside. Let us educate the upcoming generations by setting that business model of showcasing values. Let the generation to follow, inspire and evoke the tendency to align moral ethics by adopting your business role model.
While designing these 12 workshops for knowing the secret of working smartly, I decided to travel backwards towards the concepts laid by those ancient economists than modern economists for unraveling solutions to make modern living as smooth as possible. The workshop’s emphasis will be on 3 forms of trainings.
Firstly, teaching exalted values. Secondly, tuning into higher thoughts. Tuning means connecting your thought forms into those exalted values. Values cannot be oversimplified just to morality. They are sublime thought forms as well as an ethical guideline drawn in favor of attaining desired things in respective fields. For example, when you heard “Focus on the task you do”, this technique is enriched with 2 laurels; it upholds a value as well as a powerful thinking. Transmitting that thought value into the veins when doing a task augurs the connection eventually and brings outstanding outcomes.
Knowing the values is the 1st phase and transcending the thought forms to those values is the 2nd phase. How it is interconnected is the 3rd phase. Wisdom has 3 facets - first is speaker; second is listener; third is knowledge. Knowledge is the golden thread in which speaker and listener connect to each other. Gaining better insight to knowledge is the 3rd form of training. Hearing about ideas is not enough; it should be deep enough to provide the sparks in thinking. Ideas listened will not remain as peripheral data in the surface of brain; it goes beyond that level and produces sparks. This sparking sensation is known as insight. Insight means peeping more into concepts (ideas) and raise questions (either by asking yourself or to a qualified master) and quelling those queries convincingly. Insight is an eye opener; compelling the listener to do research on concepts heard. Ask genuinely to the concepts:
- What is it?
- Where is its origin?
- Why is it significant?
- What is the benefit?
- What are its subdivisions?
- What is the inner meaning?
- Is it practicable & applicable?
- How can it be implemented?
When these queries are convincingly answered, then ideas are grasped more than a peripheral data. Grasping the concept beyond doubt is the beauty of such thinking. In our workshops, the concepts are imparted more than a peripheral data, hence it is elucidated as deep as possible as well as tangible, so as to gain insight. The only criterion for getting insight is sincerity. Because the more deep it is, the more subtle it will be; the more subtle, the more demanding for deep thinking; the focus should be more for entering into deep thinking. Focusing will be more when one is really serious; and sincerity brings seriousness. Those who attend it sincerely and apply it sincerely will reap results from the techniques taught by the ancient thinkers, which is emphasized in the 12 modules.
